This project will explore the relationship between film and architecture. Film as a medium and residue, people experience the spatial quality through lens and film props; but architecture, people experience it physically and people could touch. Each element in the film is designed for the camera, seen through lenses not human eyes. The importance of film props is often underestimated. However, film props play a significant role in filmmaking and cinematic spaces. This project looks at the lifecycle of film props: production, repair, filming, exhibit. This project will start with restaging the cinematography of the Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) by Wes Anderson through investigating the film props and spatial sequence of the film, these sequences will be projected onto 3D models. This project then moved on to explore the relationship between the film props and the site.
